In a state that has been hard hit, and is one of the ones with a poor level of education, South Lafourche High School has been making gains in their educational system. This local school has been able to expand their resources to engage the Louisiana community in producing more academically strong graduates. Focusing on what they already have has helped them produce a growing high school in a state that needs better education. Not to mention adding up the donations and working with the city to produce funds and organizations have given them more to work with as well.
The mission statement at SLHS is to "strive to attain maximum academic growth of all students", with their motto Tant Que Je Puex (All that I can) giving no doubt that they are all for some kind of innovation inside of the school. The Fighting Tarpons have been working with the local universities to promote different scholarships and engage high school graduates to pursue their future in higher education.
All of this is possible, thanks in large part to the support of a local company that has international presence in the oil and gas industry. Jambon Boats is a commercial vessel supplier, but they have been spending a lot of time promoting the local community, and donating to high schools such as South Lafourche, in the hopes that the community will prosper.
With SLHS flourishing with the support and the funding from an international company, scholarships will now be available to students in much larger quantities than ever seen before in the region. With this in place, opportunities will be given to other parts of the community as well, as companies are backing their cities of origin.
